"Good Omens" Fic Masterpost

Because I've posted some additional stories since September, and it's nice to have them all in one spot sometimes:

“I have spent all my years in believing you”

It turns out that retired demons make terrible patients, and that retired angels aren’t the best nursemaids.

Somehow, they muddle through.

“the lost and the unloved babe”

Hastur discovers Crowley’s betrayal on the fields of Megiddo--and Warlock is the one who pays the price.

“Every Song In Every Key”

Crowley will never admit, not even under threat of holy water, that he actually likes Christmas.

“come let the new child play”

An ongoing series based on the premise that Aziraphale and Crowley have a child they’ve secretly been raising together throughout the centuries. WIP, currently 3 stories have been posted.

"in the days when lands were few"

Crowley remembers each of their names.

"I Try And Mend The Broken Pieces"

A demon and his godson on a rainy afternoon in the South Downs.

"It's Late"

The bus ride to London is distressingly quiet.

"love is anywhere you're bound to be"

Crowley cast him a sidelong glance. "You're hardly one to talk about torrid love affairs, Mr. Shacked-Up-With-Oscar-Wilde-For-Twenty-Years."

“All The Dreams We Had”

This time will be different, Aziraphale thinks. This time, Crowley will remember.

More "Good Omens" Fics!

Oh, it feels so good to be writing for a fandom again! Especially one that I've loved for so many years but never managed to write fic for before. The TV show was definitely the spark I needed!

"in the days when lands were few" - Aziraphale/Crowley, Adam Young
Summary: Crowley remembers each of their names.

"I Try And Mend The Broken Pieces" - Aziraphale/Crowley, Adam Young
Summary: A demon and his godson on a rainy afternoon in the South Downs.

"It's Late" - Aziraphale/Crowley
Summary: The bus ride to London is distressingly quiet.

"love is anywhere you're bound to be" - Aziraphale/Crowley, Adam Young, Warlock Dowling
Summary: Crowley cast him a sidelong glance. "You're hardly one to talk about torrid love affairs, Mr. Shacked-Up-With-Oscar-Wilde-For-Twenty-Years."

"I'm Leaving Here (I'm Long Away)" - Aziraphale/Crowley, Baby OC
Summary: Crowley had no idea where to go from here. It wasn't as though "what to do if you accidentally create an offspring with your mortal enemy" was covered in the demon handbook.

New Fic: "All The Dreams We Had"

 Well...it's been a while, hasn't it?

I've taken a good year off from fanfic writing, concentrating instead on my original novels. I signed with a literary agent this year, and now I have a novel on submission to publishers. Fingers crossed someone picks it up someday!

But I'm between writing books right now, and it's been such a relief to dip my toes back into fandom. Thank goodness the Good Omens TV show came along when it did. I have needed a fandom to immerse myself in, and I guess this is it! I've loved the book for 15 years now, but the show is what threw me headfirst into the fandom and got me writing fic again, so. Here's my humble contribution. Hopefully I will have many more to follow!

12.5.2018

Wow, I didn't realize it had already been a year and a half since I last logged into Dreamwidth!

Anyway, like everyone else, I'm dusting off the ol' Dreamwidth blog in preparation for Tumblr crashing and burning. As far as fandom updates go, I've posted a handful of fics on AO3 since May of 2017, but for the most part I'm focusing on trying to get my original work published. So far this year I've had 6 (!!!) short stories accepted to various online lit magazines, which absolutely blows my mind, and I have short stories coming out in 2 different anthologies in 2019. I write under a different pen name, of course, but someday I may be brave enough to release that pen name to my fandom following. You guys were my first readers, after all, and some of you have been with me since I started posting fic back in 2010. I can't believe it's been 8 years already!

Okay, enough of my rambling. Expect to see more posts here on writing, fandom, and whatever else strikes my fancy!

Heeeey, Martian fans! Guess who finally posted a new fic? Don't read it, though, because it's tragic.

"Requiem" - Beck/Watney

And guess who posted a fic that's been sitting in her drafts for over a year now?

"Prodigal Son" - Star Trek: Voyager, Chakotay/Paris

Nothing much new to report on the writing side of things. I have an agent who expressed interest in my manuscript last month, so I sent them some pages they requested and am waiting to hear back about that.

I've been sucked into some new fandoms in the meantime that I want to write ALL THE THINGS for but have none of the headspace yet to do it. I hope to get there someday. Wanna listen to a podcast about a bisexual non-binary private investigator on Mars? Please check out The Penumbra and then come talk to me about it because I neeeeeeed to flail with people. Wanna read about a gay gangster in 1960s London and be bowled over by angst? Please read The Long Firm, go watch the TV show, and then come find me so I can scream into the void with you.

New Fic

Guess who write a Star Trek fic two years ago and then totally forgot about it in her drafts folder?

Oops.

"The Night Absolves" - Jim/Bones, Star Trek: AOS

Jim struggles with his resurrection, and with Leonard's role in it.

(LJ users: This has been cross-posted from DreamWidth, come find me there!)

Well, this study doesn't bode well for my story. Harrumph. Guess I'll be hand-waving another bit of science away, along with the possibility of faster-than-light travel and, you know, androids actually existing. Sigh.

2 query letters submitted this week. Another one will go out tonight (as long as I stay focused). Fingers crossed.

In the world of fic, I want to write all the things for all the fandoms but I have none of the headspace and none of the time. Sigh again.

1.23.2017

(LJ readers, this has been crossposted from Dreamwidth. Find me there!) :-)

So the optimist in me was like, "Sure, I can post a couple of times a week! No problem!"

Now the realist in me is like, "Wtf, it's been almost 20 days and I have to make ANOTHER post? Jesus."

I really have nothing to report from a writing standpoint.

Editing. Editing is happening. Sort of. I'm focusing on little, tiny things now, and less on the plot itself. There was a great post I saw on Tumblr a while back (wish I'd bookmarked it) that challenged you to go through your story and remove as many instances of  "said Character A" as you could. Not in the sense that you would replace "said" with a more interesting synonym (that is bad advice, don't do that, it gets distracting after a while), but either eliminate "said Character A" altogether or make the character do something or show their emotion instead. So like:

"I have to go," Bill said.

or

"I have to go." Bill took off his glasses and rubbed the bridge of his nose wearily.

Kinda like that. I'm paraphrasing from the actual post, but hopefully you get the idea. It seemed like good advice and now that I'm implementing it in my story, it's really pulling scenes together. So that's cool. I like how I'm always learning things about writing that I didn't know I knew. You don't always think about these things when you're just reading a book for fun.

I did have someone on Tumblr a couple of weeks ago tell me that I shouldn't bother trying to publish my own original work, which was the kick in the pants I needed to finally start really digging into Manuscript Wish List, looking for agents who match what I've written. I've also been polishing and customizing my query letter to fit each agent. I need to start submitting things, which I'll probably do sooner rather than later now. Thanks, anonymous person, since I know you're reading this as well! *waves*

Anyway, on to more serious stuff.

More of a test post than anything else... *taps screen*

Taking the shiny new blog out for a spin! Hopefully this crossposting thing works and this appears on LJ, too.

Anyway, hello. Been a while. I had this great long life update post planned out in my head, but now I'm home from work and tired/lazy. I also started this post five days ago, so you can see how well that's gone.

More life stuff behind the cut:

New Fics

Okay, I keep forgetting to crosspost here, so these really aren't new, but...

-Find some Sam/Bucky (Avengers) fic here and here.

-Here's some Data/Geordi kidfic.

-Here's a random Jim/Bones fic for no reason.

Completed Fic

Title: "Price of Memory"
Fandom: Star Trek: Voyager
Pairing: Chakotay/Harry Kim

Like so many of my stories, this was a random idea that quickly got out of control and ballooned to over 50K. Took me five weeks to write and five months to post, because time management is a skill I've yet to master. As ever, this is for the lovely [livejournal.com profile] kim_j_8472.

And with this, I have no more fics waiting in the wings, no WiPs that I'm working on writing, editing, or posting. I have no fandom that's really calling to me, and nothing (fanfic-wise) that's inspiring me to write. It's an odd feeling.

Many Thanks

I am perpetually behind on all of the things, and I've neglected this one for too long. [livejournal.com profile] kim_j_8472 made me a lovely couple of book covers for two Martian fics I wrote, and she gave them to me for my birthday last week. Thank you so much for this awesome gift, my friend.

The posts can be found here and here, and the covers have been added to the fics here and here

Xmas Fic: Peace in the Storm

Usually it takes me years to get to the point where I'm shipping Character X/OMC in a given fandom.

For The Martian, it only took me three Beck/Watney fics and now I'm on to Watney/OMC. And it's all [livejournal.com profile] canonisrelative's fault. So I wrote an xmas gift for her:

"Peace in the Storm"

Summary: As the Hermes heads for Earth, Mark slowly falls apart while Beck tries to hold him together.

NaNoWriMo 2015 Wrap-Up

I ended up the month with a little over 52K, which is about my average with NaNo. I took every damn one of those 30 days to do it, though, which is weird for me. Usually I either finish by the second or third week, or I flame out in the first. It really was like pulling teeth to make my word count every day, and a lot of times I didn't, so I had to make up for it later on down the road.

New Fic

I've fallen deep, deep down the rabbit hole and there's no saving me.

Title: Contact
Fandom: The Martian
Pairing: Beck/Watney

Summary: "Mark? Let's not talk about Mars tonight."
