This is precisely the reason why I avoid S/J/L fics. The only way they truly work for me is if it's an equal partnership, but that's hard to achieve if two of the partners were together before adding the third. The only way the pairing works for me is if they all three get together around the same time.
Anyway, long ramble aside, I'm glad this worked for you. It's good to know it felt equal all around, and that no pairing was favored over another. That means a lot :)
