Oh, I can't tell you what a relief to know that this departing story for Lestrade was satisfactory! I was nervous I wouldn't be able to give him a proper sendoff, especially seeing as how many of you had a feeling a while ago that this would be coming. I'm happy to hear it sounded realistic, and that the connection between Sherlock and Lestrade had been fleshed out enough to allow this ending.
And yes, that was a nod to "Sunshine" - I'm happy you picked up on that! I was afraid it would be too subtle.
