I love that you kept the progression realistic, yet allowed Lestrade a peaceful departure, with Sherlock acknowledging not only their unique connection, but acknowledging that L needs to be reassured that his son will be happy, that all his efforts have not been in vain. And the wink to "Sunshine" (unless I'm inventing it?) was a beautiful touch. Thank you so much for giving the L-S part of this verse such a beautiful closure. There will be pain and mourning for poor Sherlock, but L's courage and love have ensured there will be closure, too, and that he won't be alone with the pain.
