Sorry it's taken me so long to read and comment. Although the idea of being buried alive has always terrified me (and seeing The Raven certainly hasn't helped), I managed to work up enough courage to read this. *g*
I think it's great that nothing seems out of the ordinary at first. Okay, John wasn't able to check his blog that morning, but it doesn't seem like a big deal at the time. He just carries on taking care of all the necessary things one has to deal with when living with Sherlock before getting around to his blog. Even then, he dismisses the message as spam and deletes it. However, I really like the startling change in mood and pacing once John sees the message on Sherlock's site and realizes that something is very wrong. Then there's another wonderful shift when Sherlock goes from being fascinated by the nature of the mystery video to horrified when he works out that it's Lestrade who's been buried alive. The ending of this chapter, from Lestrade's phone message to Sherlock's cursing, is just perfect:
--Lestrade. I’m a bit tied up at the moment. Leave a message, and I’ll get back to you as soon as you find me.
“That’s not his usual message,” John said stupidly. Realisation washed over him in a cold wave, and his eyes strayed hesitantly to the video. “That’s... Oh, my God...”
“Lestrade,” Sherlock said, his voice low and vicious. “Oh, you stupid, stupid man.”
You really are a deliciously cruel and evil person, aren't you? *g*
