Happy New Year to you too! :o)

Lovely story - I always enjoy this kind of melancholy, quiet, sober atmosphere. And any form of meaningful exchange between Data and Lore, especially when there's much more going on than they say out loud. (No worries about Data, you write him very convincingly!)

I must admit that I find it hard to be moved by the thought of humanity dying out or the Earth disappearing - maybe because it's just so difficult to grasp. On the other hand, the thought of the androids' virtual immortality always makes me strangely sad, perhaps because it makes me realize how little meaning any human Data's ever met will have for him in the long run. (Which makes it all the more striking that he does suddenly think of Geordi... then again, you did say he had kept his memories of his first years...) I hope he and Lore can find some comfort in each other - though even that is something you seem to call into question.

Also: beautifully written, in a style that for some reason strikes me as typical for good scifi. Reminds me of Asimov ("The Last Question" or something like that). Wish I had the guts for this kind of scope.

BTW, 'PWP' means 'Porn Without Plot'... not really applicable to this fic, I'd say... ;o)
