I absolutely love the premise of this story! I mean, we all know that canon Sherlock Holmes retires to Sussex to raise bees, but the concept becomes even more meaningful here because he doesn't want to retire until Lestrade is okay with it, that he's willing to make this sacrifice because he knows Lestrade is happier in London. I admire the way you handled Lestrade's disease, leaving clues to indicate that his mind is deteriorating, ones that even Donovan picks up on. It just about broke my heart (but in a good way) when Lestrade said it was time to move to the country because he'd almost forgotten their wedding day. I think it's beautiful that Lestrade feels life in the country will allow him to focus more on Sherlock and not forget him.
