Re: Guys, you need to address the "Mycroft issue"

Hello!

Well, I'm very glad that you've been enjoying the series so far. That's good to hear!

To address the Mycroft issue, I first want to say: the series isn't over yet. There are plenty of stories ahead, so I wouldn't rule out Mycroft completely.

Also, we never said that we disliked him. But for the purposes of this 'verse, his physical presence simply isn't as necessary. This is primarily a series of stories about the Sherlock and Lestrade dynamic, and Sherlock's budding relationship with his son.

Mycroft and Sherlock's relationship is more than strained in this 'verse. A lot of the history between them can only be inferred, but much of it has to do with Siger Holmes. They share a past that has left Sherlock very damaged; there's no easy way back from that.

Also, Mycroft's surveillance is still heavily prevalent in these stories. He still keeps the flat bugged and keeps an eye on his brother and his brother's growing family. While you may not physically see him or hear from him in every story, his presence is still there. It's much the same way in the series - Mycroft's always hovering.

So, again, this series of stories definitely isn't over and you may see more of Mycroft yet. I'm afraid that's all I can say right now. But thank you for leaving this feedback (and for the bookmark/rec on AO3!) We are both very glad you're enjoying these stories so far.
