Oh my god, this is like...crushing. I feel so, so sorry for Sherlock, feeling like he's going to get to a point where his son sees him like the rest of the world does. And obviously because he's him, failing to see that Cal will always see him as his dad and that will override anything else. And that complete alienation from your parents is basically what happens to everyone during adolescence...and then you come together again as adults. Oh man, he needs to talk to John about this. And Lestrade. But oh, I do want to hug him so badly.
Loved the scene with Cal asking if he'd have to marry a boy though and Sherlock totally not grasping the significance. So Sherlock.
Just. Argh. I do love the way you're dealing with all of this - well, making them deal with all of this. I had to explain once to a ten year old why his mom had put him and his brother in foster care, and he'd been in care in the same family for almost all his life, had contact before, obviously had had it talked about tons of times, but it was still one of the hardest things I ever had to explain. To a five year old...eesh. So yeah, Sherlock, you're doing a great job.
