Oh, poor Sherlock. This just makes me want to cry. I hope he can find some way to discuss how he is feeling with John.
And he did do a very good job. Kids ask these kinds of questions and it's tricky to find that area where you tell them the truth (because Sherlock is absolutely right, lying is not good), but limit it to concepts and words that they can understand at their particular age. Sherlock has trouble communicating to adults, let alone children, and the fact that he is trying so damn hard to do what is right is both wonderful and heart-breaking.
