Oh, Sherlock. Oh, Cally Jack too, but he's been getting so much love from the start he may grow more resilient and more quickly to the wound. Sherlock's twisted "scientific" reasoning, that he could never have been loved by his first surrogate father in the first place, is so at odds with his two relationships - with Lestrade, who isn't his biological father either yet proves him wrong, and with his own adoptive son, you feel his own hurt must have been deep indeed for him to get trapped in such perverse logic.
That last line sounds so true and IC, as did the rest of the fic. I love how you two never shy from the more realistic family issues and make this a sort of Bildungsroman for everyone concerned - though Lestrade strikes me as the more advanced because he's already been deeply involved in family building, even though it ended in a tragedy. But he may find himself facing new issues with Siger (what the hell is Mycroft about?^^).
