You two have totally surpassed yourselves -- AGAIN! This story is beyond awesome! You tackle the issues of adoption, sexuality and child mortality in a sensitive and touching manner and, yet, this story is humourous and entertaining as well. Calvin asks the kind of questions that all parents dread -- and it's wonderful that Sherlock is the one who ends up having to tackle them. Ironically, despite his lack of social graces, Sherlock actually is the ideal person to educate Calvin given his past and the way it has shaped him. And, actually, Sherlock's answers are absolutely perfect in some instances, such as when he tells Calvin that Lestrade is the closest thing he has to a grandfather when Calvin is upset about not being able to meet Sherlock's father. All the same, it's good that the situation causes tension between Sherlock and John at first (especially when Sherlock consults Lestrade rather than John) and Sherlock still has doubts about his parenting abilities at the end of the story.
