"An Ocean Between" (4/4)

Fic Summary:

It takes nearly three years for life to return to something that resembles normal for Sherlock after his return. Now, John and Mary’s baby is growing before his eyes, he’s getting steady cases from the Yard, and the solitude in 221B finally feels comfortable.

And then, in the midst of a quiet summer, Sherlock’s teenage son gets in contact with him again. This brings to the forefront a host of painful memories for Sherlock, and regrets over a friendship he believes ruined beyond repair.

-New fic posted last night on AO3:

    “Do you like it?”

“Like it? It’s probably the worst birthday present I’ve ever received."

I am surrounded by the love of fandom friends :) In addition to lovely messages sent to me throughout the day yesterday, I am so very lucky to be friends with so many talented people, and I received some lovely gifts for my birthday:

Grid drew me some lovely Sherlock/Victor from their university days, so you should go give her all the love and tell her how wonderful it is.

[livejournal.com profile] sidneysussex is a ridiculously talented writer and an awesome friend that I absolutely do not deserve who went and wrote me some Star Trek: TNG mixed with Sherlock Holmes, featuring all my favorites.

And [livejournal.com profile] kim_j_8472 is the friend I never thought I'd find, someone who shares my love of Voyager and Chakotay and Chakotay/Paris and has allowed me to talk her ear off about the most obscure pairing I have. Not only that, she went and created this lovely series of manips and a GIF featuring two characters who never ever meet in canon, and yet... well, and yet. Somehow I made it into a thing anyway. Words can't describe how much I love this, so go tell her how awesome she is and how lovely this is.

Thanks also to [livejournal.com profile] thesmallhobbit for the fic you emailed me and [livejournal.com profile] canonisrelative for, well, ALL THE THINGS.

I have the most wonderful friends <3

Title: "An Ocean Between" (1/4)

Characters/Pairings: John Watson/Mary Morstan, Sherlock Holmes & Victor Trevor, Ensemble

Summary:

It takes nearly three years for life to return to something that resembles normal for Sherlock after his return. Now, John and Mary’s baby is growing before his eyes, he’s getting steady cases from the Yard, and the solitude in 221B finally feels comfortable.

And then, in the midst of a quiet summer, Sherlock’s teenage son gets in contact with him again. This brings to the forefront a host of painful memories for Sherlock, and regrets over a friendship he believes ruined beyond repair.

Notes: More tags/warnings can be found by following the link, but pretty much what it says on the tin: a post-S3 fic that focuses on Sherlock and Victor's strained relationship. Not quite S/V, but also not quite not S/V. Completely written, so it won't be abandoned, but updates might be sporadic.

I still have nothing meaningful to contribute to fandom (or rather, nothing that I feel like posting at the moment), so I'm doing another book rec list (or at least, a list of some of the books I've read recently). My first list of book recs can be found here.

"Detectives Who Go Bump in the Night" - Sherlock/Lestrade

Summary: It wasn’t the first time Lestrade had woken in the middle of the night to find Sherlock bleeding all over his kitchen. He doubted it would be the last.

Finally getting around to clearing some of the fics in my drafts folder. 3 more C/P fics are up on AO3, as well as my first foray into Harry Potter fandom.

This journal's been quiet lately because I haven't much to post as far as writing goes. I have a handful of ficlets in my drafts folder that someday I might get around to posting when I feel inspired again, but apart from that, I've mostly been focusing on several different original stories, hence my silence.

But I have had the good fortune of coming across several different book series this past year that have sucked me in, and now that I'm all caught up on all of these series, I think it's high time to rec them vigorously (and hope that the authors release a new book soon, because now I'm itching for more):

And now that I'm all caught up on the book series I was following, I definitely had a panicky moment of what do I read now last night. So I picked up The God Eaters (available free online!) and The Boy I Love. I'm hoping they will be as emotionally devastating as they seem :)

Title: “The Middle Ground”

Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: I own nothing
Word Count: c. 3900
Warnings: Language, implied sexual content

Summary: Mary returns from a mission with a surprise for Sherlock.

Notes: This is a slightly expanded version of the birthday gift I wrote for Kim back in April. It follows “Living Witness” and probably won’t make sense if you haven’t read that. Final part of "In the Bleak Midwinter" is now up on AO3. I'm considering this series complete, unless for some reason the Muse strikes again.

The final 3 chapters of "Living Witness" are now up on AO3. The first part was cross-posted here as well, but then I got lazy, so now they're only on AO3.

Kim designed a lovely photo manip for me that goes along with this story, and it can be viewed here. Go tell her how absolutely stunning it is! Oh, and the icon above is her work as well. I'm so lucky to have you, my friend! Thank you for your help with this story. :)

Part 2 of "In the Bleak Midwinter" is now up on AO3. Part 3 will follow as soon as I have a chance.

And speaking of WiPs, the last three chapters of "Living Witness" will probably go up over the weekend (or whenever I have a spare couple of hours), and I'll probably only put them on AO3 because I've become really lazy about cross-posting installments/fics here. And that fic isn't going to get any nicer to John, FYI.

:)

“Distraction”

Summary: Ever since John had planted that infernal idea in his head all those months ago, Lestrade hadn’t been able to shake it. This was ridiculous. He was not in love with Sherlock.
